Why you should become an ALOFT member
Services you need from people we’ve evaluated and that members have rated.
Educational, cultural and travel opportunities to keep learning while having fun doing them.
Volunteer opportunities for those who wish to help others.
Member discounts and perks at a growing number of establishments.
Opportunities to meet new friends at members only get-togethers.
Always updated calendar of events that you will want to know about.
Plus, more benefits on the way, including transportation assistance.
Affordable ALOFT memberships for everyone.
By largely relying on volunteers, ALOFT delivers the total membership package for $95 a year per individual and $145 per household, a very small price to pay for such a large array of services, opportunities and, most importantly, peace of mind. These are introductory prices, intended to bring people together to identify what services they want and how they want to receive them.
As ALOFT’s membership grows, ALOFT will offer Village Assist, a program for those on a modest budget, delivering the same full benefits package while lowering membership fees to a comfortable level. Don’t hesitate to ask about Village Assist.
Member benefits
ALOFT is a consumer-driven program, which means that the needs and interests of the membership determine the kinds of offerings available. This site will be the source of new services and programs added in response to the changing interests of our membership.
ALOFT Membership Cards
Members who have registered and whose membership payment is current will have access to programs as they become available, including:
Social, continuing education and cultural connections that promote continued active and engaged lifestyles.
In-home healthcare assessment and healthcare referrals and information, at preferred rates. In many areas of our region, it is difficult to hire personal care attendants and aides for logistical reasons. ALOFT will make referrals for such assistance to known providers. In the future, ALOFT will assist with transportation between public transit stops and member homes.
Referral to home maintenance vendors (e.g., plumbers, electricians, home repair, in-home computer assistance, and more) whose backgrounds have been investigated and vetted, where required, for insurance, licensure and references. Some also offer ALOFT members preferred rates. (This is not an emergency service, but ALOFT can help plan ahead to deal with possible emergencies.) Ongoing satisfaction assurance through follow up with members and, if requested, supervision of work.
In planning stage:
Improved access to transportation services that extend beyond town borders.
Transportation that links local volunteer efforts with larger regional livery service for medical appointments, recreational activities, shopping, night rides, airport/train connections, and home care workers serving members at home.
And More:
Technology training and in-home computer support.
“Preserving our communities starts with providing the support our valued elder citizens need. ALOFT will meet that need and provide the support necessary to allow our residents to age in place.” -- Bedford Town Supervisor Lee Roberts
“Nobody wants to leave the home they have lived in for years, especially in a community like Bedford. But too often issues of mobility, transportation, taxes, home maintenance and difficulty in social networking make it impossible to stay. ALOFT is committed to addressing these issues, and more, in ‘state of the art’ ways. ALOFT can make a difference in your life.” -- The Rev. William Weisenbach, DD, Senior Pastor, First Presbyterian Church of Katonah.
